Allen Tate

John Orley Allen Tate (19 Kasım 1899, Winchester, Kentucky - 9 Şubat 1979, Nashville), ABD'li şair.

Fugitives grubunun üyesiydi. Güney yanlısı kültüre ve amerikan modernizminin eleştirisine dayanan bir edebiyat geleneğini savundu. Şiirlerinde (Mr. Popex and Other Poems, 1928; Poems, 1931; The Mediterranean and Other Poems, 1932; Poems, 1960) olduğu kadar denemelerinde (Essays of Four Decades, 1969) ve new critcism'i etkileyen edebiyat estetiği anlayışında da unutulmazlığı dile getirme ve mitleri çağrıştırma (Stonewall Jackson, 1928; The Fathers, 1938) kaygısı güden tutucu bir esini dikkat çeker."[1]
