Formula 1 aracı, tek kişilik, açık kokpitli, açık tekerlekli, önünde ve arkasında birer kanat bulunan bir yarış aracıdır. Araçların uyması gereken koşullar şampiyona türüne göre farklılık göstermektedir. Formula 1 kurallarına göre, takımlar araçların tasarım ve üretim süreçleri dışındaki işlemleri kendileri gerçekleştirmek zorundadırlar.[1]

Motorlar

Renault tarafından 2006'da tasarlanan,RS26 V8 motor
The BMW M12/13, 1.5 litre turbo motor Brabham-BMW 1980'lerde 1500 bhp ile yarıştı.

2014 yılında FIA araç motorlarını 2.4 litreden 1.5 litre V6 turbo motora düşürdü. Araçlar en fazla 15000 rpm ile çalışıyor
