Abarema Fabaceae familyasından neotropikal bölgede yetişen büyük ağaçların oluşturduğu bir cinstir. Meksika'dan (Abarema idiopoda) Bolivya'ya kadar olan kuşakta yetişirler. Türlerin çoğu Amazon Havzasında ve Guyana'nın yüksek rakımlarında bulunur. Koyu yeşil eğrelti otu benzeri çift dilimli bileşik yaprakları vardır.

Türler

1996 yılında yeniden gözden geçirildikten sonra 45 kadar türü bulunmaktadır. Daha eski eserlerde cinsin tamamı genellikle Pithecellobium içine katılmaktadır.^[1]
