Hope Elması

Hope elması veya Mavi elmas, 45.52 karat (9.10 gram),[w][1][2] dünyaca ünlü bir elmas.

Sahiplerinden birinin adından ötürü Hope Elması, renginden ötürü Mavi Elmas adıyla bilinen bu taşı Avrupa'ya 1642′de Jean Tavernier adında bir gezgin getirmiştir. Elması Hindistan’da bir Buda heykelinin gözünden koparmıştı.

Tavernier, elması Fransa Kralı XIV. Louis’e satmıştır. XVI. Louis ise elması karısı Marie Antoinette’e armağan etmişti.. 1830′da Daniel Elias adında bir İngiliz, elması 200.000 liraya Banker Hope’a sattı. Hope, elması aldıktan kısa bir süre sonra iflas etti. Daha sonra Kanitovsky adında bir Rus prensi elması satın aldı ve dostu bir kadına armağan etti. Kadın ölünce elmas Yunan Simon Monkaricies'in eline geçti. Monkaricies, elması çok yüksek bir fiyatla, II. Abdülhamit’e sattı. Son olarak elması Yunan armatör Onasis’in karısı Tina almıştı.

Elmas şimdi ABD'de National Museum of Natural History müzesindedir.
