Pentapolis
Bir pentapolis (Yunanca πέντε (pente), 'beş' anlamına gelen penta ve πόλις (polis), 'şehir(-devlet)' anlamında gelen polis'ten oluşan bu kelime beş şehirden oluşan coğrafi birlik ya da kurum anlamına gelmektedir.
Önemli tarihi pentapolisler
- Kutsal Topraklar'daki Sodom, Gomorrha, Zoar, Admah ve Zeboim
- Adriyatik kıyısında Bizans İmparatorluğuna ait Rimini, Pesaro, Fano, Senigallia ve Ancona (Pentapolis Dükalığı)
- Filistin Pentapolisi: Ashkelon, Ashdod, Ekron, Gath, ve Gazze
